NEW STRATEGIC PLANNING WEBSITE
As part of the strategic planning process, a dedicated website has been created to keep the FIT community informed about the ongoing developments of this important initiative. The site includes details on the project timeline, community participants, and the planning process, at www3.fitnyc.edu/strategicplanning.
NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION WEBSITE
The Division of Student Affairs and the Office of College Relations have posted a new student orientation website at www.fitnyc.edu/orientation. The site familiarizes new students with FIT before they arrive on campus. It includes descriptions of all Student Affairs offices with links to relevant information on the FIT website, as well as online registration for the mandatory orientation activities during Connections: New Student Success Week, which begins January 26.
NEW STUDENT VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY SERVICES WEBSITE
The SVCS has launched a new website available at www3.fitnyc.edu/svcs. The student organization’s site includes descriptions of their services, pictures from their many activities, and details numerous volunteer opportunities.
STUDENT PHOTO ID SCHEDULE, WINTERIM 2005
Only students taking credit courses are eligible to receive photo IDs. Students taking non-credit Continuing and Professional Studies courses are to pick up temporary IDs from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies office or their instructors. Winterim 2005 photo IDs will be issued beginning Monday, Dec 27, 2004. All faculty members and Student Affairs, Admissions, Registration, Bursar, Financial Aid, Residential Life, and Student Life staff should alert their students to this information.

FIT HOSTS TECH PREP CAREER DAY
The FIT Tech Prep Consortium hosted its fifth annual Career Day on November 12, 2004. Over 100 eleventh grade students from four metropolitan area high schools attended the event, which included a presentation by author and motivational speaker Jason Dorsey plus a series of workshops on fashion industry careers presented by FIT faculty and alumni and other industry experts. The FIT Tech Prep Consortium, established in 1992, is a partnership of high schools, colleges, and businesses working together to prepare students for academic and career success. COMMUNICATION DESIGN PROFESSOR EXHIBITS PAINTINGS
Julie Gross, adjunct assistant professor of Communication Design, has new paintings exhibited at Kenise Barnes Gallery in Larchmont, NY, in a show entitled “Color Theory.” Professor Gross gave a lecture on color theory at the gallery on November 17, 2004. The show will travel to the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, New York in April, 2005.
