PHOTO ID INFORMATION
May 13 is the last day of the spring semester photo IDs will be issued to students replacing lost or stolen IDs or who have yet to receive an ID. Only students taking credit courses are eligible to receive photo IDs. Students taking non-credit Continuing and Professional Studies courses are to pick up temporary IDs from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies office or their instructors.

Summer and Summerim 2004 photo IDs will be issued beginning Monday, May 24, 2004. All faculty members and Student Affairs, Admissions, Registration, Bursar, Financial Aid, Residential Life, and Student Life staff should alert their students to this information.

A full student photo ID schedule for the upcoming summer and Summerim semesters has been posted around campus. For more information contact Security, x77777.

COMMENCEMENT AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL
Commencement ceremonies take place at Radio City Music Hall at 10 am on May 24, 2004. Approximately 2600 AAS, BFA, BS, MPS, and MA degrees will be granted. Robin Burns, president of Intimate Beuaty Corporation, is the commencement speaker, and honorary degrees are being presented to Leonard Florence, founder, Syratech Corporation; Micol Fontana, co-founder, Sorelle Fontana; and Gordon Parks, photographer. MICHAEL COAN NAMED ELSA PERETTI PROFESSOR IN JEWELRY DESIGN
Michael Coan, adjunct assistant professor and chairperson of the Jewelry Design department, has been named Elsa Peretti Professor in Jewelry by President Joyce F. Brown. This is the first endowed professorship in the history of FIT, established by a contribution Tiffany & Co. made to FIT in 2000, in recognition of the renowned jewelry designer Elsa Peretti’s 25th anniversary with the company. VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
The FIT volleyball team won the 2003 Regional Championship, 2003 City Championship, and competed in the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time. The team placed sixth in the country. WEB-BASED ATTENDANCE SYSTEM UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The Human Resources department is implementing a web-based attendance system that is expected to go live in the fall 2004 semester. All full-time employees will use the web-based system beginning this September. Training sessions on the new system will be offered beginning in May and will continue in the fall. LIZ HOLLY MORTENSEN SELECTED TO DISABILITY MENTORING DAY COMMITTEE
Liz Holly Mortensen, coordinator, FIT-ABLE, has been selected to serve on the Disability Mentoring Day Committee, chaired by Matthew Sapolin, executive director, New York City Mayor’s Office for Persons with Disabilities. POLLY GUÈRIN PUBLISHES
Polly Guèrin, adjunct assistant professor of Fashion Merchandising Management, has a variety of upcoming publications. The May 2004 issue of Art & Antiques will feature an article by Guèrin titled "Cloth Commodity Fine Dining Linens," and the June issue will include her article "Stately Poster Beds." RITA ROONEY TO RECEIVE 2004 OLLIE B. MOTEN AWARD
Rita Rooney, director of the FIT Health Services Center, has been selected by the American College Health Association to receive the 2004 Ollie B. Moten Award. This award was created to honor health care professionals who have made a significant impact in the delivery of health care services in higher education. "SMART CARTS" AT MEDIA SERVICES
Media Services will be adding two new "smart" computer presentation carts to their inventory. These carts will contain a PC with CD and ZIP drives, flat-screen monitor, and LCD projector. Carts will be available for the fall 2004 semester. For more information contact Robert Fornshell, x78229.
KATIE MURPHY AMPHITHEATRE UPGRADED
Through funding from the FIT Student-Faculty Corporation, the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre’s audiovisual system is being upgraded with the completion of a new AV booth located on the upper level, as well as the installation of new speakers and audiovisual equipment. The Media Services department and General Audio Visual Inc. of Long Island have redesigned and upgraded the amphitheatre in order to enhance and improve the quality of all events held in this facility. TAKE YOUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS TO WORK DAY
On April 22, Human Resources sponsored "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day." More than 80 children attended various programs throughout the day. The program was a huge success. Photos from the event can be found here.
