Special Exhibitions Gallery, The Museum at FIT
This exhibition features approximately 100 garments and accessories from Guinness's personal collection, including designs by Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaïa, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, John Galliano for Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Rick Owens, Gareth Pugh, and Valentino. Guinness's own designs are also on display.

EXHIBITION: IMPACT: 50 YEARS OF THE CFDA
Special Exhibitions Gallery
February 10-April 17, 2012
Conceived by CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and curated by Patricia Mears, deputy director of The Museum at FIT, IMPACT: 50 Years of the CFDA will include approximately 100 objects, both garments and accessories, by the CFDA’s most impactful creators of the last 50 years. Also included will be visual images and acknowledgement of the nearly 600 designers who have been members over the past five decades. Each living designer selected to participate in the exhibition is choosing a single object or ensemble that best represents his or her impact on the fashion world.

This is the first of two exhibitions that highlight masterpieces from the museum's permanent collection. More than 50 garments and accessories are featured, including work by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, Christian Dior, and Miuccia Prada.

TWO STUDENTS WIN CFDA/GILT GROUPE ALL-STAR SCHOLARSHIPS
Kieran Baker, recipient of a $10,000 CFDA scholarship, also was selected by unanimous decision as the winner of the Gilt Groupe All-Star Scholarship Program—open to the top five 2011 CFDA scholarship recipients—and receives $10,000. Lauren Sehner, winner of the $25,000 Geoffrey Beene Design Scholarship, received $2,500 from the All-Star Program.

ILLUSTRATION FACULTY MEMBER’S WORK SHOWCASED AT ART BASEL MIAMI
Bil Donovan's artwork was showcased at Miami's Art Basel at the Fendi Casa exhibition. The mixed-media work, which used Tatijana Shoan’s photographs of Michelle Harper as a canvas, was also commissioned for spread in As If magazine, launching next month. For more information, contact Bil Donovan.

ENGLISH AND SPEECH PROFESSOR’S NEW CHAMPBOOK FINALIST IN COMPETITION

CALL FOR PAPERS: EDUTECH DAY
All faculty, students, and staff are invited to participate in the SUNY-wide EduTech Day, Teaching, Learning, and Sharing in the Cloud, a collaboration between FIT's EduTech Team and SUNY's FACT2 Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology. Click here for more information on submitting a presentation proposal. Registration for the March 16 conference begins December 1, and the deadline for proposals is January 30, 2012.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: FACULTY AWARDS
The Academic Affairs Office is soliciting nominations for the 2012 FIT Faculty Excellence Award and FIT President's Award for Excellence. Click here for the nomination application. Deadline is February 1, 2012.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS AND DESIGN CONFERENCE
All faculty and staff are encouraged to submit break-out session proposals for FIT's sixth annual sustainable business and design conference, The Winds of Change: Making Our Mark on Sustainability, held on March 27, 2012. To submit a proposal, click here. Deadline is February 15, 2012.

The Student-Faculty Corporation offers free lunchtime exercise classes for all faculty and staff:

Tuesday—Body Toning, 1-2 pm, Room AX39
Thursday—Yoga, 1-2 pm, Room BX02
Friday—Ethnic Dance Aerobics, 1-2 pm, Room AX39

Fall classes continue through December 16. Locker and shower facilities are located near the gym area. You may use a locker only during class time, must bring your own combination lock, and must empty your locker after class. Portable mats are available for purchase at a discounted price of $10. SUSTAINABILITY GRANTS AVAILABLE
As a part of the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY initiative FIT Goes Green: Infusing Sustainability into our Culture, an annual fund of $15,000 was established to support sustainability initiatives at FIT. The fund is administered by the FIT Sustainability Council. Individual or group awards are capped at $5,000 per initiative. Proposals are due December 9. DIVERSITY COUNCIL OFFERS EVENT SUPPORT
An event or project that fosters inclusion and diversity can carry the council's stamp of support on promotional materials and be posted on the campus-wide calendar on the council's website. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION ONLINE TRAINING
FIT employees are required to complete two online training sessions that fulfill federal Affirmative Action requirements for government employees. The sessions, Preventing Sexual Harassment and Preventing Employee Discrimination, take 60 to 90 minutes each, and do not have to be completed in one sitting. You should complete both sessions by the last day of the anniversary month in which you were hired (for example, if you were hired on November 15, complete the training by November 30). EMERGENCY MESSAGING SIGN-UP
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to register online for FIT's emergency alert system. The system uses email, phone, and text messages to provide effective emergency communications to the college community, both on and off campus. To opt in, click on the emergency messaging system link in the Web Resources channel on the MyFIT tab.
