Prada ensemble Spring 2008

Prada
Ensemble
Multicolor silk twill, black silk crepe, leather, and plastic
Spring 2008, Italy
Gift of Prada, 2008.45.1

Miuccia Prada’s influential designs are based on a post-modern layering of eclectic references. For this collection, Prada collaborated with artist James Jean who created an Art-Nouveau-meets-1970s inspired print. The silhouette is reminiscent of evening pajamas from the 1930s, yet another connection to the past. Prada’s accessories are often the most expressive and accessible forms of her vision; these shoes reflect the collection’s otherworldliness with a flower, in full bloom, transformed into a heel.
