The cloche was a revolutionary hat. It eschewed the rigid wire frames of the 19th century in favor of soft felts and straw, which could be draped and moulded to hug the curves of the newly bobbed head. Caroline Reboux – the “Queen of Milliners” – was an advocate of slim modernity in fashion and a pioneer of this soft style. After her death, the house of Reboux continued to provide fashion-forward millinery for the couture elite.
