Mrs.
Howard Linn
née Lucy McCormick Blair
1886 – 1978
Born in Chicago, she became one of the city’s social and fashion
leaders, entertaining the Duke of Windsor when he was Prince of
Wales. Mrs. Linn contributed over 150 couture ensembles to the
Chicago History Museum including garments made by Chanel,
Vionnet, Lanvin, Balenciaga, and Dior. As one journalist
observed in 1961: “Seven decades is a long time to be feminine
and exciting and gay, to be best-dressed, to have the figure of
a young girl, to be, in the French fashion, an intriguing woman,
timeless and vital.” |
