woman   Mrs. Julius Epstein
née Nancy Franklin

b. 1920

Born and raised in Chicago, she was an innovative art collector and a student of couture fashion design. Her husband, Julius Epstein, was a prominent real estate financier and developer.

Mrs. Epstein collected and wore fashion by James Galanos, Norman Norell, Charles James, Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, and others, many of which she later contributed to the Chicago History Museum. Her daughter, Kay Unger, is a New York-based fashion designer who admits to being heavily influenced by her mother’s taste in couture.
