Featuring approximately eighty contemporary garments by leading designers, Love & War:
The Weaponized Woman
is divided into five sections:

AN INTRODUCTION opens with an example of theatrical armor worn by an actress playing Joan of Arc; other items on display include historical armor, lingerie, and accessories.

THE WEAPONIZED WOMAN features warrior-like fashions by designers such as Boudicca, John Galliano for Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Helmut Lang, Christian Francis Roth, and Yohji Yamamoto.

THE HARD BODY pairs an armored breastplate from the Renaissance with high fashion equivalents such as Issey Miyake’s red fiberglass bodice shaped like a naked female
torso and Hussein Chalayan’s fiberglass dress. Thierry Mugler’s extraordinary metal fashions are also featured.

OFFICERS, NOT GENTLEMEN shows how military uniforms are used in contemporary fashion. Examples include Burberry’s silk taffeta trench coat and a World War I-inspired skirt and top by Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garçons.

SKIN2: WEAPONS OF SEDUCTION explores the allure of lingerie with a snakeskin brassiere ensemble by Azzedine Alaïa, a “nude” corset by Peter Soronen, and a white tulle corseted
ballgown by Olivier Theyskens for Marcel Rochas.
