Marc Bohan for Dior
/ The Flapper
In 1965, a resurgence of "flapper" fashions embraced by Norman Norell and a number of his contemporaries led Marylin Bender of the New York Times to ask, "Is it Norell . . . or Vintage Chanel?"

. . . . . . . . .

The dropped waist and a flared skirt seen here are Marc Bohan’s subtle references to a 1920s dress style. Bohan was one of several early 1960s designers to be influenced by the 1920s. Bohan’s design is less literal and perhaps lacks some of the youthful abandon of other reinterpretations, but its polished look befits the established, elegant clientele of Dior.
